The
Northampton Lighthouse was built in 1980 by the Express Lift Company as their lift testing tower and was opened by The Queen in 1982. It achieved a Grade II listing in October 1997 for its architectural interest.
The slender, parabolic building has become a notable landmark and is visible from most parts of the town of Northampton and also from the M1 motorway.
